I preordered this book 8 months in advance because I love Stephen King. My copy arrived covered in hand sanitizer, both the cover and the pages. (Third time this has happened in the last year.) I realize this is not the fault of the authors. I love Stephen King, I tolerate Richard Chizmar (I see him as the “Hallmark” version of the horror genre; not very horrifying and super cliche, but I’ve only read one of his books so far). The reason I give this book one star is that this story was just dripping with anti-Trump nonsense. It doesn’t bother me that neither of these men cared for our past president, but I think it takes away from a good fiction story when you add slander of real people. It’s sloppy, and the name calling makes them sound like children. It wasn’t necessary. Once was understandable. But seriously, taking an entire page out of a fricking novella? I’m very disappointed in this book and will not be preordering from these authors for a while. Bash all you want on twitter, but leave that crap out of the fiction.
