Bad Picture Quality - Fun Remote
I really wanted to like this TV but it's picture quality is just bad.
Spent all day trying to get picture settings dialed in with no luck. Blacks were washed out and faded, colors were inaccurate and could not display any in between colors well (noticeable lack of ability to display purples in particular), and contrast was not strong enough at medium-high brightness/low-mid gamma. The viewing angle was ~5º from dead center; anything more than that and a noticeable oval of haziness would grow out from the center of the picture, and trying to view this TV at >30º was practically worthless.
The TruMotion feature (which tries to emulate a 120 Hz refresh rate by interlacing a 60 Hz refresh rate) wasn't very good. There was a lot of picture tearing, motion blur, etc. I disabled it and the picture looked like it was lagging (like dropping frames when streaming a video).
The only good thing I can say about this TV is that I LOVED the remote design. It's not required that you use the motion features of the remote in order to do anything on this TV, but they were intuitive and handy (especially if you've ever played a Nintendo Wii).
That all said, I ultimately sent this TV back and got a Sony Bravia X800E, which I am much MUCH happier with. I miss the remote, but the picture quality is night and day difference.
