Year follow up - meh
So after one complete year I can write a full review. My bike is parked on a concrete pad under the shade of several trees and shrubs, and covered all the time I'm not riding. It's still intact with no rips or weak seams. The liner is still soft, which is a plus because I don't worry about scratches. It's thick and heavy, and I've never had to use the straps. Elastic is still strong and holds firmly around the bike. So why 2 stars? I recently noticed after a rain that the light heat resistant bottom is not waterproof. In fact, because it's so thick, when it gets wet it's like wrapping your bike with a wet towel - it doesn't dry out quickly and water is in constant contact with the metal. I'd say that's worse than having no cover. Also because it stays wet so long, the lighter part has started to mildew. In addition, some seams at top started to leak. I solved that by spraying them with a sealant. Remembering the "lifetime guarantee", I emailed Dowco but unfortunately got no response. So I bought a cheap $12 PVC cover I saw at Ollie's discount store and have been using it over the Dowco cover. This has kept the bike protected and finally dry. Finally I should note that despite what it says, you really can't put this on a hot bike unless you have maybe 4 other people helping you. If the black part touches anything hot (like exhaust pipes) it will melt to it. The elastic is pretty strong, and one person can't stretch it down on all sides of the bike while keeping all black parts away from heat. So - good cover, but plan on it not being waterproof at the bottom, and don't expect Dowco to respond to queries.
