★★☆☆☆
disappointing, hidden expenses, bad business practices
There are very few companies that convert super 8 to digital so I felt I had to use iMemories despite some negative reviews. I sent in about 20 small rolls of film which cost over $400 to transfer. When I got the transfers, I saw that about an eighth of the films were viewable, but the rest were too faded to see anything. The fading was not the fault of iMemories, it was degeneration of 50 year old film. But I would have appreciated if the company could have let me know that most of my film was empty. I still had to pay for the un-viewable film. When I contacted the company, the answer was that there was no way they could see the quality of the film. That's just bad business. If I ran my company this way, I would have no customers.
Another annoying thing about this company is that you have a limited time to view your film before they start charging you for storage. The experience gets more and more expensive as the charges pile up and up and up. If I can find another company who transfers old film, I will.
