These are what they say they are, wooden. However, it never really clicked when I ordered these for my 2.5 year old that they would be coated with paint. As soon as I saw them I realized that my daughter would be holding them in her mouth with her teeth...and that ultra-cheap, unregulated paint from China would be ingested by her. No thanks...directly in the trash for me. I recommend you take this into consideration when purchasing.
