BUY THE OLD VERSION! (Not worth the upgrade)
I had the infant optics DXR-8 and because I loved it soo much I wanted to try the DXR-8 pro when I had my second baby. I read nothing but good reviews so I went ahead and purchased it. I don’t think it is worth it to upgrade and is a waste of money... keep the old one or if you are looking for a monitor buy the old version. I will give you a pro and cons as to why: Infant optics 8 pro -pros: -very clear image (much better than the older one) -bigger screen -convenient volume and screen brightness buttons on top. However I did not have a problem with the old one if you know the shortcut button. Cons: -audio sucks (has a few second delay -so if your baby’s room is close enough to your room you will hear two cries -one from your baby and one that’s delayed from the monitor! This was the most annoying thing ever! The old version has real time audio so I think this is a HUGE downgrade! The screen might be nice but audio is the most important to me as I’m not going to be staring at my screen all night long, I will be hearing it. -when in scan mode (for multiple cameras) when the cameras switch every 7 secs or so the audio will play for a few seconds then turn off -like it’s rebooting- then play again. So there is a few seconds of complete silence. Which not only is annoying to listen to at night but those few seconds could be something important that you needed to hear for your babies safety! -temperature is off by 10 degrees -the noise cancellation feature is nice but doesn’t work when in scan mode- so if you plan on having more than one camera running this feature is absolutely pointless. Also the old one doesn’t have this feature and yet it is as quiet as the new one with the noise cancellation on. So if you don’t wanna hear an annoying buzzing all night long and you plan on having more than one camera get the old one! -not compatible with the old cameras even though they look exactly the same! So you have to spend more money if you want extra cameras. All that being said, I tried to give the company the benefit of the doubt that maybe I got a faulty unit and did contact them for a replacement but the replacement did the same thing. The customer service was excellent however and I do recommend this company just not the infant optics DXR-8 pro. Buy the old version (DXR-8)!!!!
