Save your money. A disgraceful ripoff!
1. It's no wonder that the Beatles rejected the Glynn John's mix. It's a bunch of lousy rehearsal takes most of which breakdown. It includes a long version of John's stupid gibberish jam "Dig It" and Paul's lame insufferable "Teddy Boy". Complete crap. 2. The ep, remixed by Giles Martin, is only somewhat better in that it includes the original "Let It Be" highlighting Billy Preston's organ and George's lovely lesley guitar solo. It has a nicely remixed but truncated "I Me Mine". The dirty secret of "Across The Universe" is that during the "Get Back/Let It Be" sessions the group never came up with a version any of them, particularly John, were satisfied with. Every version has been slowed down, overly orchestrated, stripped down mixes of the original (and best) group recording from 1967 which John inexplicably gave away to a charity album. It features George's wah-wah guitar and tamboura, Ringo's minimalistic drums, George and Paul on background vocals and a group of Apple Scruffs who were invited in to add to the background vocals. That is on the "Past Masters" cd. The ep version is just another version taken from the original. 3. If you liked the Spectorized "Let It Be" album (I didn't and don't) Giles Martin did a nice job of remixing it. 4. The two rehearsal cds are mildly interesting but I doubt anyone will listen to them twice. 5. The book included has the same shoddy blurred photo problem as the ripoff "Get Back " book. The bottom line is that this is a shameful disappointing ripoff money grab. Shame on Paul, Ringo, Olivia and Yoko for insulting fans with this garbage. If you have "Let It Be .... Naked" you already have all that you need and this was written by a rabid Beatles fan since 1964.
