If you follow this couple in the news and tabloids, you already read this book.
I honestly expected this book to change my viewpoint on the couple, however it did not. The book is very one sided to Meghan and Harry... as to be expected, but I thought they would show other viewpoints or at least have some insider details. It was very obvious that the couple had a hand in writing this book, even though they claim not to. If you follow the couple in the news or read the tabloids you pretty much already read this book. I would say there wasn't any new information or anything I didn't already know. This book was written as a fictional love story instead of a factual based book. Both Harry and Meghan play the victim in this book and it just proved that their attitude is "pity me".
I did not like the way they portrayed Kate in this book. The book literally said "Kate did not want a career, whereas Meghan was the exact opposite and was totally career driven." I do no not see Kate as a "weak, non goal oriented woman". Perhaps Kate didn't have a specific career in mind, like Meghan's acting career but I do not think for a second Kate did not want a career. Also in the book it describes everything Kate did as "not enough", however Kate reached out to Meghan and said if you need anything, just call.
The couple seem extremely tone deff and hypocritical of a lot of things. The book talks about how Meghan purchased an "H" and "M" inital necklace. She was photographed with the necklace on and the Palace called to tell her not to wear the necklace anymore, because it will only increase the media frenzy going on around them. The book then said she called her friend in tears. The Palace was only telling her this because they want to keep her safe and keep her privacy. The book made it seem like, the media was out of control with this couple, and no other royal couple in history ever experience anything like this. Most other royals are also hounded by the press and papparzzi, they may not seek it but it is a huge part of their life. The book also mentioned how the couple cut off a lot of friends and family since the beginning of their relationship. If they did not like what their friends or family had to say, they would cut them off. It even said after William told Harry to take things a bit slower, Harry became angry and slowly stopped going over to see his niece and nephews. Which is ironic because they might be in the same position as him some day.
It makes me sad that the BRF will never be able to respond to this book, to hear the other side of the story. There is always a second side and although this book didnt directly depict the BRF in a bad light, but it made it seem like the Palace never backed the couple up.
