If You Have TV Stunt Soap Scum, Then This Is For You!
This brush really gets soap scum clean, provided you loosen it up with a hand-held bristle brush and elbow grease first. I had really bad soap scum in a small shower stall; I mean, if it were a human, it would be doing 30 to Life in the state pen. Since I tend towards insomnia, I saw this wunderbrush advertised about 3:00 in the morning, thought of my plight, and promised myself I would get it. Well as luck would have it, I was able to find one on SALE! Fortune had smiled upon me! I got my soap scum brush salvation and skipped merrily on my way. OK, if you've seen the informercial, it makes it look like the brush will clean tough soap scum as if you were a fairy tale character who snapped her fingers and had woodland creatures do her bidding. It makes it look like you can send the help home, clean the shower, and still have enough time to shower and put on your cute tennis outfit for cocktails with Muffy and the girls at the club. HAH! HAH, I SAY! For starters, it doesn't hold soap or cleaning solution well, so the only way to get cleaning solution on the walls is to throw it up on there, make sure the brush is wet, and try to catch the solution before it runs down the tiles. The on/off button? Listen, when you're in a panic not to waste the 2.5 x concentrate you squeezed on the wall tiles, the buttons are not as responsive as one would hope. Depending upon the brush head, the least little bit of pressure makes the thing STOP. Just STOP. Like, "Whaaa? I am SO not cooperating!" STOP. And while we're on the subject of brush heads, if I'm already irritated and at the point where the very LAST thing I want to do is use my hands to pull off a brush head covered in soap scum water, the penultimate thing I want to do is FIGHT WITH IT TO COME OFF. I pulled on it so hard that I was beginning to think the brush was enjoying it. When I finally got it off (the brush-when the brush finally came off the stick), changed the brush and started the thing up again, it decided it was too tired and started to slow down. Clearly this has to stay on the charger at all times which means more money for my electric company. Having had enough, I went old school again and got the handheld scrub brush. SO, if you have the kind of soap scum that they use on TV and in soap operas, this is what you want. Anything outside of that, be prepared to loosen things up with an old fashioned scrub brush and elbow grease - in fact, just use that and save yourself the money.
