It is now Feb. 2020. Over a decade ago, on record, the collector was promised the Tom and Jerry collection would get a complete proper remastered Bluray set. Instead. Vol,2 was cancelled or remains in limbo with no release to this day. The move to cancel Vol 2 was contradictory and completely undermined the initial purchase incentive of Vol 1 of a planned complete set. Warner Brothers not only got cold feet after Volume 1, worried about the 'political correctness' climate of how to present a Vol. 2 that included UNCUT titles like 'His Mouse Friday'. To add insult to injury, other animated franchises got complete 'The works' treatments released by warner brothers regardless of content. Why is Tom and Jerry the scapegoat needing censorship? Do not give money to this company!!! If you want the Tom and Jerry shorts represented here in the best AV quality, genuinely you should buy a 2nd hand copy on ebay and then rip a legal backup of the shorts to your hard drive using a bluray-rom drive and researched software. Why? If you own this set or this upcoming lazy re-release, Bluray as a format is not friendly to skipping nonsense of trailers or the absolute unacceptable sitting through a 40 to 45 second still frame NON-SKIP disclaimer EVERY TIME you watched a disc YOU BOUGHT to remind you that racial stereotypes are wrong but were a product of their time. Whoopi Goldberg also is on hand to remind you of social awareness as a PSA in case you forgot or only wanted to enjoy your purchase of uncut unedited Tom and Jerry shorts [as per the packaging and as per the press releases for this set]. Therefore, in short, the BEST way to enjoy the main content on this set is to buy a 2nd hand copy to avoid money going to Warner Brothers, copy the shorts off the discs without delays and menus, and then re-sell the set with the kind instructions to do the same knowing you nor a potential buyer will most likely NEVER see any other promised shorts in a Vol 2, Vol 3 set or otherwise. Shame on you Warner Brothers. You have not earned the respect to obtain money from unsuspecting buyers for your reissue without any update to potential buyers about having no further interest to release Vol 2 and beyond for a complete set. A decade later, and Tom and Jerry fans might see this re-release and think "I'd love to have a complete Tom and Jerry Bluray set" and get fooled again. I would be happy to revise this review if Warner Brothers were to properly inform potential customers of either a plan or lack of future volumes, or if they take the high road and not use Whoopi's talents as a means to place viewership of these shorts as a higher concern than the ones who created them. Instead, for now (10 years + and going) the silence seems as if yet another cash garb at the fans without proper disclosure. SUMMARY: Get the shorts 2nd hand for PQ and AV greatness, but do NOT support this company with a 1st hand purchase.
