Yesterday, I dropped my phone down a storm drain. I had forgotten it was on my lap in the car & when I stood to get out, it tumbled to the ground & down the storm drain. I panicked, because not only was it my phone, but my phone's case holds my driver's license and debit card. I threw myself to the ground & reached my arm in, but there was at least another foot between my fingertips & my phone. I tried flattening myself to slip through, but alas! The storm drain wasn't wide enough for me. I found the manhole, but the lid was bolted down. I knew it was worthless, but I just kept trying to reach for my phone, swearing obscenities. There was a carcass of an old sports ball (couldn't even tell what kind it was anymore) & I started thinking this might be the fate of my phone. That's when my partner asked if we had any tape in the car. I just so happen to keep a small roll of Gorilla Tape in my glove box because I drive a cheap car & the window sealant has been melting off, so I've been taping the edges. The thin Gorilla Tape actually works like a charm for keeping my windows from allowing too much air in & wind resistance while driving, without being too noticeable, but that's a different story. We found a good sized stick & wrapped the end in Gorilla Tape, sticky side out, then left a little tail hanging. I went back to the storm drain and began poking at my phone with the tape end of the stick. Within a minute, the tape had gotten just enough of a hold to pull my phone out. I was so relieved, I fell onto my back & just laid in the street for a moment, thanking my lucky stars, and you, Gorilla Tape. You saved my phone.
