Another pleased buyer with back pain
Like many other reviewers, I bought this because I have back issues and I use it indoors. With a herniated disc and severe sciatic pain, I was looking for a way to be more comfortable without having to drop 3k on an expensive zero gravity chair while going through PT. I thought that my rather generous backside would be better off in the oversized chair, and I have to say that this chair is almost too generous in space for me. There's around three inches of space on either side, which doesn't sound like much, but means that I'm most comfortable wedging a couple of pillows in on either side. I find that the chair reclines easily once you learn the trick of how to shift your weight. The lock system means that you can lock the chair into any position it moves into and it doesn't have a ratcheting style recline that forces you into moving only in specific increments. I really appreciate that flexibility. The footrest is possibly my least favorite part of the chair. The cushioning is inadequate at best. I'm 5'8" and my heels rest directly on the metal bar. It hits my 6'0" tall son's achilles tendons and wasn't comfortable for him. My answer to that was to buy a pool noodle - the kind with a hole in the center - trim it to the length of the foot rest, and slip that on for additional cushioning. Worked a charm and doesn't interfere when the chair isn't reclined. It's solidly constructed, the chair fabric is good quality, and overall I'm very pleased with the purchase. EDIT: 3/14/16 A week and a half after I left this review, my chair broke. With continued use, the bolt that holds the body frame and chair arm together came apart and I was unable to get the parts to fit back together. Not only that, but the piece on the seat side of the chair arm slid out and is *very sharp*. I checked the other side and the bolt was doing the same thing. While I won't recommend against buying this chair, I will recommend that you check those bolts every few weeks. Otherwise you could end up with a nasty cut on your leg as well as having the chair just give out under you.
