I have to share a story of unlikely love. I just bought a printer. And I love it. It's the first printer i've bought in ... eh.... 15 years? I always figured "to heck with that, it's 20xx, I don't need a printer". The other day needed to print a return label and instead ended up having to use the craptastic computer at the UPS store for $3 to print it out. I realized I'd never have time to buy a decent printer when I needed one and I'd need to get one now when I don't need one so that I'd have it when I did need it. My old printer was a nightmare of macos-unsupported drivers supposedly hosted by a company that has no interest in supporting old models (*ahem* HP) hell. You know the scene from office space where they take the printer out into the field and beat the ever loving snot out of it with baseball bats? That's how I've felt about my old printer for years. I put up with it because I didn't know better. The last time I needed it, however, I couldn't find the drivers in the dystopian mc.escher-inspired pukefest that is HP's website. So, I looked up printers that are supported by Apple out of the box and decided to give this one a shot. I unboxed it, followed the infographic that was attached to the excellently packaged printer, followed the on-screen setup to join it to my wifi ... and then printed. From my iphone. And from my macbook. I didn't have to install any drivers or plug in any cables. It just. Frikkin'. Worked. No passwords other than joining the wifi. Easy. I told my wife that I just setup the printer and printed from my phone with zero frustration, and that I wasn't even going to tell her how to do it, because it's so easy to just do. And she did it. A++, highly recommended
