This thing works great. I was kind of worried about purchasing this because of all the negative reviews. But after trying it I'm so glad I got it. It is soo easy to use. You turn it on plug in your video source then push play on your source and record on the recorder. Once you decide you want to stop hit the record button again to stop. It does not get any easier than that. The videos get recorded onto a micro SD card which can be removed and inserted into to a card reader. If you don't have a card reader you can plug in the recorder into your computer using supplied USB cable and the memory card shows up in file explorer as a drive letter. The files are saved as AVI format which can be uploaded directly up to YOUTUBE. One thing I notice in the reviews was that some people complained about video not showing up and being jittery on the screen and audio getting a lot of noise. I did experience this when I tried using the 1/8 mini plug AV cable that came with the unit on my Sony HandyCam. So I decided to use the A/V mini 1/8 plug cables that came with my Sony camcorder and the sound and video was crystal clear. So the cables that came with the device was not 100% compatible with my Sony Camcorder. Make sure if you are using the cables that came with Camcorder. If you are using a VCR as a source then the A/V RCA cables that come with the unit are fine. The RCA cables for VCR's (Yellow, White, and Red connectors) are pretty much standard for all VCR's and work. It's the mini 1/8 plug that may have a different pin out and will cause problems if the contacts don't line up. If you own a Sony Handy Cam and you no longer have the video output cables you can find them on Amazon for about six bucks.
