Great, sturdy toy- but use COMMON SENSE
I bought this toy and my cats abuse abuse abuse it- and it still works and they still love it 6 months later. I am a veterinary student and I run a rescue mission. I have very young cats, very old cats and special needs cats. Every one of these cats loves this toy, even the 2 1/2 legged cat ad the 15 year old diabetic. However, as with ANY CAT TOY only allow play while supervised. Any toy that has string, loops, or any parts that can be dislodged should never be left unsupervised. This is not a babysitter. This toy, like many toys, should be put in a safe place unless there is direct supervision for play time (this also makes a toy more desirable because it is not always available). I have read the bad reviews on here and I agree that a cat can potentially get into trouble with this toy by getting caught up on the belt, getting wrapped up in the attachment belt, or eating the string. BUT that is the case with most cat toys! If you supervise your animals you will have absolutely no problems. It is when they are bored and alone that they get into the trouble. AGAIN- this is NOT a babysitter and it does NOT take your place for attention. I have seen many animals, not just cats, in the clinic after digesting some well intended toy: cats, dogs, guinea pigs, snakes, birds, reptiles, etc. This toy is much safer than many many toys that I have seen marketed for animals, or small children for that fact. Furthermore, I have bought many expensive motorized toys that didn't last two days before being broken by this group. This toys has been tugged on, slammed into the door and tortured for 6 months by 15 cats and, while it shows a little wear-and-tear, it still works perfectly and they still come running when I bring it out. It is a great buy and I highly recommend it. Remember, for cats (and many domesticated animals) - half the fun is impressing you with their play and getting noticed for their "slick moves" (they are show-offs just like the humans!! and need recognition, too). Cheap entertainment for me and good exercise for them!!
