Seems Very safe & Great quality (it is Not styrofoam!) See Photos
I am very hapy with this seat and my pom loves it. I have two poms, 4 lbs & 8 lbs. I drive with my dogs 90% of the time and am Very concerned with their safety. I got the small and it's a perfect size! This is my 3rd dog car seat. I also have the Snoozer II Lookout (about $200) and the Pet Gear Luxury Booster (don't use it.. tips forward & too shallow). I bought this for my 4 lb pom (Sparkle) but the 8 lb one (Bling) also fits (not together tho). Sparkle decided she no longer wanted to share the Large Snoozer Lookout with her sister Bling and she would edge Bling off the edge of the seat.. which would bend and Bling would fall off. (see photos). My 4 lb girl fits in the small with plenty of extra room, including her food dish. Still with extra room. My 8 lb girl fits but not much extra room. If i get her one, I'll get her the large. See Photos I prefer this seat over my Snoozer For various reasons... I'm Very happy with the quality. What's it made of you wonder? Not styrofoam as others claimed. It is a high density semi-stiff foam. It is the type of foam often used to protect electronics during shipping.. such as DVD players. You know.. the stuff which is moulded to fit the product and very difficult to break. Yet it has a bit of give. I feel this foam offers superior protection to my dog, even over my other Snoozer Lookout 2 (which I paid almst $200 for). I feel the high back & sides offer superior protection too. My girl can't fall off the side as she can & does in the Snoozer. (see photos) Very easy to install in the back seat of my SUV. I opted Not to put seat belt through the loop attachment on the bottom of the seat as I want the seatbelt to be as close to the back of the car seat- just seems more secure to me that way. I tried to test it's tipping forward potential by pushing on it after installing and it did not tip / move hardly at all. See Photos (I show me trying to pull it forward and i can't) I've also attached the teather to my Car Seatbelt with a carabiner as through research this seems safest way of attchment. I keep the tether short to prevent her from falling out were I to stop suddenly or get hit. I've tied it in a knot to shorten it and also to prevent the adjustment slide from lengthening from sudden pull (in case of accident). I do prefer the clip part from my Snoozer better: it seems more sturdy. I am using Both tethers attached to her harness rings for added protection to ease my mind. See Photos. This seat is deep enough I can leave the bottom cushion in. I removed the cushion from the snoozer because it raised the girls so much it was vey eay for them to fall out. I feel the snoozer is just a booster seat and offers no protection from impact. The high sides of this chair definitely offers more side protection. The sides of the Snoozer are not connected to the back of the seat and are a softer foam which bends / flexes from my 8 lb poms weight. On the Snoozer I've wrapped a belt around it's sides to keep the sides in place to hold my dog inside!! This will not be an issue with this chair. See Photos. The cover is nice and cozy. Easy to remove, so cleaning will be easy. I have both the large Snoozer and this seat in the back seat of my Kia Sorrento and there is still one seat left for a passanger back there too. The snoozer is higher/taller but my small girl can still see out the window if she sits up. I'm so happy with this purchase I'll most likely retire my Snoozer and get the large for my other girl. My only 2 wishes are: a way to attach a food bowl to the front side and would feel more secure if there was some type of loop or hole at top back of seat so I could secure it to the car headrest.. so there would be no way for the seat to tip forward at all. I was NOT asked to write this review and I paid for my seat.
