Not working with SmartThings? Read this.
This motion sensor works extremely well with SmartThings but the way its sold/advertised is pretty bad unfortunately. A lot of consumers are going to think this simply works with ST out of the box but that absolutely isn't the case. No matter what you do it will NEVER pair to your ST hub unless you do the following: 1. Do a Google search for "bosch motion sensor smartthings". Click the first link titled "Bosch Motion Detector". This should bring you to the ST forums. 2. In the thread scroll down until you see the post by username "sandyis". Click the link in this post... it'll take you to GitHub. 3. Look towards the top right of the Github page and click the "Raw" button. 4. Select all of the text (code) on the screen. In windows you can do Ctrl+a. 5. Right click and select "copy". 6. Go to IDE on SmartThings and login. 7. Select your hub and then click "My Device Handlers" at the top of the screen. 8. Click "Create a new device handler" at the top right of the screen. 9. Look towards the top left and click "from code". 10. Copy the code you copied in step 5 into the text box. Click "Create" 11. Look towards the top right of the screen and click "Save" and "Publish". 12. Put the Bosch motion sensor in pairing mode (by holding the bottom on the back for four seconds). 13. Open up the ST mobile app and click "add things" The motion sensor should now be detected by ST. Note: To conserve battery use, this detector only reports motion alerts to SmartThings ONCE every 3 minutes. The three minute timer starts once it first detects motion. Once motion is detected, it IMMEDIATELY goes back to 'no motion' for three minutes, even if motion continues during those three minutes. This means that if you trigger motion and then leave for a minute and come back, the detector will NOT trigger a new alert since only one minute had passed since the last alert. In short: This motion detector will work well in most cases but if you need VERY accurate alerts (as in reporting multiple alerts within a short time span) you'll want to look elsewhere.
