Most comfy of any I have tried
I am an old guy of 70. While active (I average 13,000 steps/day according to my fitbit), I have had a problem with my right leg swelling at various times. The docs can't find the issue other than "you have lazy veins" so I just live with it. I have tried various kinds of compression sleeves but they are a pain to get on and off, and my leg swells above and below where the sleeves end. The sleeves tend to be uncomfortable since they are tight and there is not much room for give. So, when I saw you could get a sleeve with a zipper, plus it was an open toe and didn't end at the top of my ankle, I thought I would give them a try. There is not much info to help you size these things, so I went with calf size. The large handles anything between 13 & 18 inches and my calf measures 15.5 inches around, so I am right in the middle of the Large size. The length of my leg between the top of my ankle and the bottom of my knee is about 15-inches. You can see from the photo I have attached that the top of this sleeve is below my knee an inch or so. So, that gives you an idea of the size when the sleeve is on your leg. When you take the sleeve/sock out of the package, your first thought will be, "No way is this going to fit my leg." They look small, but they stretch a lot. The first time I put this on, I had to get help from my wife because the space between the 2 open sides of the zipper was stretched too far apart, so I had to hold the sides together while she pulled the zipper. I was afraid if I forced the zipper up with that gap, I would break the zipper. So, that plan worked fine. The sleeve/sock is very comfy. The most comfy of any I have tried. So, 5 stars for comfort. It also works very well, keeping my leg/ankle from swelling while I go about my daily activities. I don't even think about it during the day. So, it does the trick very well. My only worry about this sock and the reason I knocked it down a star is that I wonder how long it will last. It reminds me of a nylon hose that women wear. Though it is thicker, it does seem to snag. the one in my photo has a snag a little above my ankle on the top side. It caught on my toenail when I put it on the second time and had the zipper all the way up. My wife wasn't around to help, so I just zipped it up and pulled it on. That worked okay, but I had a small jagged spot on my toenail because I had just trimmed my toenails, and it caught and got a snag. So, without some time using these, I can't say how well they will hold up. Time will tell, but since I only need it on one leg, and you get 2 in the package, I can swap back and forth. The way they are built, you are supposed to have the zipper on the inside of your leg, so that says there is one for the right leg and one for the left. But I see no reason that you can't have the zipper on the outside of your leg - my jeans cover it up anyway - so I will just use both of them on the same leg. I like this set and hope they hold up. They sure are comfortable and the best compression socks I have tried. I like having the open toe so there is support for my ankle all the way down past the heel. I wear my regular socks over the sleeve when I go out.
