My husband rolled his eyes when I made this purchase in preparation for our trip to the Outer Banks in NC. He thought it wasn't necessary at all, but I felt like it was $15 well spent for the piece of mind of knowing I could use the loo if necessary. We were going to Corolla, which is a drive on 4x4 beach in NC, we'd be spending all day there, and there are NO BATHROOMS on the beach. What if I or the kids had to go #2? The thought just gave me shivers. So I bought this sucker, put in a heavy duty garbage bag, scooped in a bit of cat litter and snapped it onto a Lowe's bucket. Voila! Portable potty! We did, in fact, use it on the beach and it was plenty comfortable (better than squatting over a hole in the sand!) and after anyone used it, they just threw in a handful of sand to cover it up. I used binder clips to hold a sheet between the front and back doors of our SUV to create a little enclosure so there was some privacy (also used it to change clothes behind). The lid doesn't lock, and it's not airtight, so if it's got stuff in it, you'll have to seal the bag if you're not sure it's going to stay upright. Unhook the handle on your bucket of choice and slide on a roll of toilet paper and you're good to go. We have a ton of buckets in the shed, so we just needed the seat. Performed exactly as I had hoped!
