I have been wanting a Maxi Climber for a while but the price seemed to increase every time I checked my wish list. I was happy to find this climber by Conquer for $149.00 with free shipping. My climber arrived sooner than expected. The construction seems adequate and I had no issues with stability. The instructions were not very detailed but the machine was very easy to assemble. It came with the tools necessary for assembly, but I would recommend that you use your own. The flanges that attached the uprights to the base were slightly warped but once I tightened the nuts down they flattened out and fit flush onto the base. I would recommend that one check all of the bolts periodically to ensure that they remain secure. The pulley is made of nylon and the cable is plastic-coated metal. I would be interested to know if the manufacturer sells replacements in case of wear. The flip down pedals are sturdy. They are all metal with plastic covers on top. About the folding feature: The drawing in the instruction book shows a small flange to which the bottom support bar would be attached, but that flange is missing on the product. Instead there is a hole drilled through the back support bar. One of the pins is longer than the others, so I assumed that it was for the purpose of securing the bottom bar to the back support bar for the folded position. Although it was not pictured, the climber came with an electronic gadget to help you keep track of time and calories and a free battery was included with it. The workout is intense. I was only able to do a few minutes the first time. I am 5 feet tall so I adjusted the hand grips to the lowest setting and it works for me. I feel like I got my money’s worth. In short, the machine functions as I expected but time will tell how it holds up to daily use.
