Scythe of Anarchy
I've only had this for 3 weeks, but I've used it almost daily. I'm trying to reclaim 32 acres of former farmland that has gone back to a nasty form of nature. Mostly second growth cedar and false willow, with some nice trees lost in the mess. Bulldozing, while much quicker, would just give me a parking lot. So, I need to work my way through it one tree and bush at a time.
After the usual spring dance of trying to resuscitate my gas powered tools, I decided to try something with batteries. I'll never go back to gas except for a large chain saw. This polesaw, along with the chainsaw, last longer than I do. I can take down all the false willow and cedar up to 6' high with this polesaw. I use it like a powered scythe, using the reach to get to the cedar without having to climb into it.
What I like about this tool - it is well balanced and easy to handle. Starts and stops instantly. You can use it with the included extension segment or go for sawed off shotgun mode. Can be field stripped and reassembled without any tools and in less time than it takes for the fire ants and scorpions to find me. Economical on chain oil, easy to check oil levels, and refilling is easy and clean. If this lasts a few years with this kind of use, I'll let y'all know. For now, nothing beats a saw you can just pick up and use. It is very easy to clean and wipe down after use, and highly recommended. Put the battery on the charger, rest, then do it again tomorrow.
