Potential fix to the poor performance after months of use.
Like many, I really liked the can opener when new, but after months/years of daily use the cans were not being opened without running several passes. And running several passes caused those tiny metal shavings people complain about. So I thought I would take the opener apart (4 screws on the back) and see if I could find a way to fix it. Long story short, the red arrow in the picture points to the cutter assembly. The blade is stationary, but it's also round. The black arrow points to a screw which holds the blade in place. Loosen the screw and you can rotate the blade around a bit to get a fresh cutting edge. I rotated the blade and have had 3 days of perfectly cut cans, just like new. If you try this, it might be a good idea to make a vertical line on the front of the blade so you know what spot to avoid later if you have to do it again. HTH, YMMV. :-)
