surprisingly thrilling
In the first few chapters, I became concerned that perhaps I had immersed myself in a positive feedback bubble that had only exposed me to what was beginning to seem to be overpositive reviews of Hank Green's debut novel. That concern faded away as the story and characters became more complex and as the genuinely perplexing mystery thickened. For anyone who follows Green, his standard talking points are almost obtusely clear and abundant, making up much of what is really the substance of the book. Those points are valuable and strong on their own merit, though, so a reader less immersed in the Green brother's world would find a unique and poignant commentary on modern digital society.
