I had a swallow problem. I like swallows, just not building mud nests on my eaves and triggering my motion sensor cameras. I used a combination of plastic spikes and later the glint tape. The spikes worked, but they would just move to another location. After reading about bird deterents I decided to give the tape a try. To my surprise it worked great. I could see the birds coming in and hovering while looking at the tape then zooming away. I had to reconfigure my “defenses” a few times as they probed and found weaknesses LOL. I have a few attached on end so they flap around in the breeze and more attached to the eaves. For the last week, zero birds triggering my motion sensors! They have moved to friendlier accommodations it seems.
