Busy mom that loves to run
I have been waiting for a GPS watch that I could use running, cycling, and golfing that also included an activity monitor. I was surprised that the feature I like the most, is something I thought I would never use, and that is the vibrating alert to new text messages or phone calls. Now no matter where the toddlers have misplaced my phone (or having it buried in my purse or in a pocket somewhere, I don't have to juggle a baby on my hip and rummage to find my phone) I can just glance at my wrist to determine importance. Not to mention the find my phone feature. Parenting win. I am also impressed with the range of the Bluetooth, my phone can be in the kitchen (or left in the car) and I get signal almost everywhere in our house. I am on call 24/7 and the vibrating alert is enough to wake me in the middle of the night to let me know I have an incoming call without waking anyone else. I turned off email notification updates in the night on my phone, so I don't have to worry about those waking me up. The screen is easy to read on runs (even while trying to keep two Australian shepards in line or with the double jogger). My only complaint is the lack of a training manual or a setup guide. I was very frustrated trying to figure out what I was doing wrong, but after playing around I managed to get everything figured out. It wasn't the watches fault, it was user error :-/. The battery is great, I average around 5 hour long runs using GPS, a hour long cycling trip with GPS, and it lasts over 6 days. I love the vibrating alarm, it is enough to wake me from a deep slumber, but doesn't wake up the hubs or the toddlers. I also love the vibrating alarm for the lap (mile) completions or the other alerts. It is enough to notify me to glance down, but not enough to distract me if I'm just enjoying the peace and quiet. The GPS is spot on with my phone and distance tracker. It is so liberating to run without being tied to my phone. I have read some reviews that complain about the lighting on the screen, but I find it perfect for outdoor runs and the backlight is adequate. Finally I was worried how I would like wearing a watch 24/7, and I don't even notice it. It is light and I have been getting compliments on it since I received it. I love that there are replacement bands in different colors at a reasonable price. This watch was worth the wait and I don't regret returning the Fitbit surge to wait for this. I am very satisfied with my purchase and have been highly recommending it to everyone. I can't wait for future software updates and more applications to improve the functions of this watch over time.
