I am an electronic technician and a amatuer radio operator. So this I will give you some insight on this product from someone who does antenna work every year. This is somewhat of a monstrosity in appearance (yet, my wife allows me to do this stuff, go figure). However, the beauty of this product is in the performance. Unpacking the unit, it all snaps together. You only need a phillips screwdriver for 1 screw. The antenna amplifier does work well. I am 70 miles from NYC. Without the amplifier, I received 8 closeby channels. Applying power, I was able to lock in 40 channels. Pretty happy. The rotor I must say is very flimsy on the base and no matter what you press left or right, it will go in the direction you want it to go. However, this function is really unnecessary because most of the big cities are broadcasting their stations and they are in one direction. My local station comes in no matter where the damn thing is pointing. The rotor is a nice idea and might be a selling point but should not be considered. The manufacturing of this piece leaves much to be desired. I suspect that the rotor will stop working after 1 New England winter. It gives no indication where the antenna is pointing like a Channel Master rotor. The remote is made so cheap I think it is made to power a kid's transformer car. So point the antenna where you city is and then forget it. I suggest you do it on ground level first to see where the most or desirable stations are, then get on the roof. My cable bill was $100.00. Now I get local channels in high defination for free. For the price, you get 5 stars! I will post an update in the spring.
