We're coming up on two years of using this fire pit and it's been a nice addition to our outdoor space. I followed some tips from earlier reviews and painted everything, inside and out, with high temp spray paint. Then I added some fire bricks and sand in the bottom. Also got a cover, and given all of that the fire pit looks almost the same as the day we first put it together. I think these steps are essential to really making this thing last - it adds to the cost, sure, but you won't be replacing it any time soon or dealing with flaking/rusting/whatever. I've seen a few of these that have been used "untreated" and, at least in my area (coastal - everything corrodes quickly), they start looking bad pretty fast. So, although we like it I did drop a star for the extra work needed to make this more than a disposable product. As a random note, we do use the grill grate and cook on this a decent amount. It's not a Weber or anything but can make for some tasty meals.
