I have my life back!
I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in May of 2013. By the end of the year, I had my colon removed. The following year, I had my rectum removed and a J-pouch formed. I was warned by my surgeon that I had a condition known as pouchitis even before the final surgery. I suffered with it for months taking pain killers and rounds of antibiotics that brought relief while I was taking them, but as soon as I ran out of the antibiotic the pouchitis was worse than ever. Many people take antibiotic regularly to treat their ongoing pouchitis. My gastroenterologist suggested Florastor because I told her I couldn't afford the other probiotic that had given some improvement. As soon as I started taking Florastor, I started feeling better. I haven't taken an antibiotic since. I tried a couple of times to stop taking it, but the pain and urgency showed up again; so I know it's still working. I wonder if I had known about Florastor before my surgeries if I might have been spared all that pain and suffering. If you have any kind of irritable bowel disorder, I recommend that you give Florastor a try.
