Soft wood but still sturdy enough to hold a 20lb cat! This was a much cheaper alternative than buying real cat wall furniture. I hate real cat trees and think they look super tacky and take up so much space, so I searched the internet for cat wall ideas. This was perfect! I made sure to use dry wall screws and please be sure you’re lining up the holes right! I jumped the gun and didn’t realize I screwed the holes incorrectly (hole side must face the wall!). I lined it the shelves with some grass turf so kitty doesn’t slip :)
