YOU CANT JUDGE A COLD MATTRESS.
Just in rolled out the Ashley Chime 10" Memory Foam Mattress (Queen). After reading all the reviews concerning it's firmness, it spooked me before order as it made me anxious on it whether the mattress was going to be "rock hard." (Disclosure: I currently own a king size casper mattress of the same thickness, it's one of the best beds i've ever owned, since transitioning from the traditional box springs to foam.) After rolling the new Ashley Chime out and let it inflate to its full size and giving it a lay-down, it occurred to me that the people in these reviews obviously arent familiar with how foam mattresses work. YOU CANT JUDGE A COLD MATTRESS. The firmness of this is what you want in a foam mattress. The softness people want comes when your warm body has settled into it gradually. This was very similar to my Casper. All these reviews exaggerate the firmness. This mattress is soft. It has give. And is quite comfortable. Let me state, if you like a foam mattress to immediately swallow you like a Pelican Briefcase, to sink in deep, dont buy this. Buy higher percentage memory foam. Foam mattresses are all a proprietary sandwich of different types of foam with different densities. Memory foam is usually the soft layer that's on top. There is a transition layer or layers between the memory foam and the thick dense support layer on the bottom. I personally like mine on the firmer side, but dont let people tell you this is like a rubber tire. That's just not true or accurate for any foam mattress. You will sink in this slightly as you body heat warms this up. I paid $221 for this Queen size 10". It is a steal. I
