I almost returned this mattress topper. It's thick. It's very cushy. I've never been a fan of that sinking feeling provided by foam toppers or foam mattresses; however, I purchased a firm hybrid mattress (online), and just wasn't happy with the amount of pressure relief it was missing. While on vacation this summer, I slept on a (non-Tempurpedic) topper, and had to admit that it was really helping me fall asleep and reduce/relieve join pain. I chose this mainly for the quality, the brand name, the warranty and the washable cover. My Mom has had a Tempur-Pedic topper (same model) for about a year, and she loves it. Although my first impression was that it was going to be way too cushy for me, after giving this topper a good try, my joints and muscles are thanking me. Yes, my bed is higher--almost too high now. It's heavy, and can be a bit hard to reposition. Those issues aside, this topper is heaven. GOSH, it's comfy. I can sit on my bed with my laptop, and yet feel supported. When you first lay down, it feels firm and supportive. After a bit, the surface loosens up, conforms to your shape, and your weight feels evenly supported. I never feel like my middle section is lower than my head or feet in an uncomfortable way, like you can get with less supportive toppers. I am a hot sleeper. Even in 100+ degree, humid weather, I haven't experienced any problems with feeling too hot at night. We set the house thermostat at about 70 degrees at night, and keep the ceiling fans going. The topper has worked perfectly to provide cool comfort. Looks like we'll be purchasing this topper for all of the beds in the house. I'm glad I took the plunge.
