When I first received this, it barely kept my coffe hot for an hour. I was not Happy! I almost shot off a terrible review, but after seeing how many reviews raved about this carafe, I decided to contact the seller first. They were quick to respond and they walked me through a small test to verify that it must have been damaged in shipping. After tested, I contacted them and they had a replacement to me in a flash. I tested it, and it truly kept thing hot hot for 24 hours. Here is what they had me do: 1) Fill it up totally with boiling water and close the lid tightly 2) Wait for one hour and feel the outside, (don't open it yet). If it is really hot to the touch on the outside, there is a strong chance the internal lining was broken during shipping 3) Let the hot water sit sealed inside for 24 hours (from the time you initially filled it) 4) Take the temperature of the water, it should still be around 140 F; which is still quite hot. 5) If it is not around 140F or more, your carafe is not working properly Like I said, my replacement is working great and I am glad I decided to contact the seller first
