Mediocre's "Smash Hit" is Anything but Mediocre.
I saw this game on the Amazon App store and since it had a lot of 5 star reviews, I thought I'd try it out. The game is free to play, which is great. If you're really good, you could get pretty far without dying. However, if you want your progress saved, it's best to just shell out the $1.99 to get the full version. The graphics are simple (very geometric), yet beautiful. They look amazing on the highest setting on my Kindle Fire HDX. The music is soothing, which helps mellow you out when you get to the higher levels and the game goes faster. It's a very simple premise. "You" (the camera) travel down a horizontal path. Glass structures are in your way. You are supplied with metal balls which you launch at the glass to clear the way for you. If you hit the glass without clearing it, you lose some of your metal balls. You are able to gain more balls as you glide across the levels by hitting little blue/purple triangles, rhombuses, and stars. Each shape gives you a different number of balls. If you run out of balls, you lose and must begin from either the beginning (free version) or your last save point (premium version). There are also special "attacks" that you can get that will make your metal balls stronger, give you a repeating stream of them, etc. That's pretty much all there is to say about the game. It's as simple as it gets, but it's so addicting. The color schemes change every level, so the atmosphere changes consistently. It's really a beautiful game that anyone can play. I highly recommend it for anyone. Try it out for free and if you like, get the full version. It's worth it to not have to go back to the beginning every time you run out of balls.
