I bought my first one 7 years ago and it lasted until I made the mistake of buying ARM & HAMMER Clump & Seal Platinum Clumping Litter - which caused the motor to seize up and die. I learned my lesson and bought Purina Tidy Cats Instant Action Clumping Cat Litter with the new one - my new favorite litter. No dust. No mess. Works great with this litter box. I would also recommend using a non-stick litter spray on the bottom of the box and rake. It really does help keep things from sticking.
