So I have grown up on these movies, my whole family just absolutely loves these films and so when I got word they were finally releasing the extended editions on 4K I 100% had to purchase no matter what. I preordered this back in November and it just delivered today (December 1, 2020). And for a year of a lot of uncertainty and a lot of things going on, mainly negative with seemingly two sides at odds. However a couple of things remain constant; this is still the GREATEST trilogy of all time, Peter Jackson remains a genius for filming these in 35MM film no matter how much it cost way back then and on top of that the remastering of a trilogy filmed in the late 90s and early 2000s it still looks absolutely flawless for being over 21 years old. Again I highly recommend this in 4K if you’re a true LOTR fan, this looks better than even Avengers Endgame ever did in 4K and sounds better than it ever has due to Dolby Atmos and Dolby sound the soundtracks sound even more astonishing, and with the 4K you can pick up on even more than you ever could before. Absolutely gorgeous. Super fun to watch through my Helm of Sauron too.
