These are a very solid set, especially for their price. The bars are made of metal, which is great as it seems many similarly priced sets have plastic, this alone makes it significantly better. Other than that, they are heavy things, with a shape that is conducive to pumping motions. If you do it a lot, people will like you. If you do it a little, you'll still probably be pretty cool. It did not come with any t-shirts with sweet phrases like "The big dawg's in town, woof woof." or "Pain is weakness leaving the body" but I already have several dozen of these shirts, and so I won't hold it against Amazon. The only warning I give, the 38 lbs mentioned includes the weight of the bars themselves. Each set comes with 4 5-lb weights, and 4 2.5-lb weights. This was not clear to me at purchase, and so just let it be known.
