The Best!!
I waited about a month before writing a review. I wanted to have time to see what my true feelings are about this vacuum and if it truly was worth the trouble. Let me first say YES. Just so you know the kind of house I live in, I live in a very well-lived home. My husband and I have 3 children, 2 birds, 3 dogs and 3 cats. I work from home and my kids are online schooled. So when I say that we are at home most of the time, we really are. About half my house is carpet, the other half is hard wood. With my dogs and cats, I needed something that wouldn't lose suction after a few months. I have allergies and so, the idea that the water filters the air and cleans it was very appealing to me. Having this much traffic in my home, I'm also an avid carpet cleaner. I vacuum daily, and clean my carpets every 6 weeks. No matter how many vacuums, how expensive, how cheap, how "pet friendly" they all were, it never failed that during my carpet cleaning sessions I would accumulate enough hair from my carpets to make a basketball. I have invested in vacuums ranging in the hundreds (I won't disclose how many...its a tad embarrassing), and always, I accumulate hair. The very first thing I noticed about this vacuum was the suction. My carpets, not having been cleaned in almost 4 weeks, looked freshly cleaned! My son even came home one afternoon and tiptoed into the hallway thinking I had just cleaned them after having used my brand new Kalorik. Also, for about the first 3 days, my Kalorik sucked up so much hair from my carpets, I had to dump the water halfway through each cleaning because all the water had been absorbed by hair. I was so disgusted. But happy that my new vacuum was getting it all. That has ended and now the water only gets to a gray color, some hair, but I'm able to clean the whole house before dumping the water. I will also say, I LOVE not having a brush!! the brushes built into the vacuum head always were a pain to clean. Not this guy. No brush. So...the real test. Today I cleaned my carpets. And guess what? NO animal hair. None. I'm talking ZERO people. I pulled up no pet hair in my dirty water OR in the inside (I always wash the inside & brushes after every cleaning). So today my mind was made up. THIS vacuum is every bit worth the money. That's not to say that this is exactly what you're looking for though. After telling you my experience that made this little vacuum my best vacuum ever, I've put together my list of pros and cons that I've encountered: Pros: -The suction: as I stated, it's awesome. Since the water is the filter, there is no dirty filter to clean. There is a couple on the inside but a quick rinse under the faucet when dumping out my water is simple and so far, nothing has really accumulated in it. The booklet insinuates to replace them maybe yearly. -Easy Assembly/Cleaning: So after each use, after I've dumped the dirty water out, I also clean the hose. It's so simple! And that's the part of the vacuum that unknown yuckies get stuck in. The hose simply twists off, and I stick it under my tub faucet and do a quick rinse to get anything out. -The air is cleaner: my allergies are definitely much better, and I've noticed I've needed to do less dusting in our home. Since I try to do it every other day, and now have noticed I can get away with maybe 3-4 days between dustings, this also was nice. -Aromatherapy oils: yes! I love this. I'm not a huge aromatherapy person, but at this time of year, I've been using oils that kill bacteria/germs in the air to keep anyone from getting sick. The kaloric vacuum will freshen up the house with a lingering smell that will last quite a while. Just a fun extra I thought. -It sucks up water: Well, not like a ton. But, its a water vacuum. So yes, if you spill something on the floor, and its not too big a mess, you could use the Kaloric to clean it up. I find this a big plus for carpets. Cons: -You have to dump out dirty water: I know I know...that's the point of this wonderful little machine. The water! But, when you have to dump it out every day that you use the vacuum, it gets to be a little tiresome. It wasn't a deal breaker for me, and as I stated before, it's cleaning so much better than I expected. -The hose could be longer: I'm 5 foot. And, I could use a tad more length on the hose. But, I've also concluded that over these past few weeks, it's become less of an issue. I do notice that I (obviously) push/hold the upright vacuums differently that the Kaloric with its pull along caddy. So it just could be that I'm adjusting to a new way of using it. Really, that's it. I happen to think this vacuum is perfect. It does exactly what I need it to do: to clean! I feel like my household is really putting it to the test given how much traffic goes through each day. It gets 5 stars from me!
