It’s not clear from the description, but the bottom of this mount has a sticky silicone disk at the center. The disk is covered with a protective plastic film. If you leave the protective film in place, the mount tends to slide on the dash because the film is slippery. If you remove the protective film, you expose a sticky surface that is designed to adhere the mount to the dash. Not what I wanted. So, I peeled off the silicone disk. It took a little effort, but it came off cleanly. With the disk removed, the rubberized bottom of the mount makes good contact with my dash and the mount doesn't slide around. And now I have the friction mount I thought I was buying in the first place.
