Unless you have an awesome cutting tool
I used the frosted film in my garage to replace the ugly blinds that only ever stayed shut and accumulated dirt and dead bugs. This provides the same amount of privacy as blinds, but with more light.
I have two suggestions:
1. Take advantage of the straight edges. The instructions tell you to cut out a piece 1/2 inch larger than the window and trim the excess after applying. Unless you have an awesome cutting tool, you're going to end up with some rough edges when trimming; so get your piece to size according to the instructions, then, when applying to the window, put the straight edges IN the window and let the edges you cut overlap and trim the excess from there.
2. Make sure you have a very sharp cutting tool for trimming after applying the film. I used a box cutter, but started with a fresh blade, it did the job but I'm wondering if there's something better that could have made trimming easier.
I used a common window squeegee to apply the film, but I did clean the squeegee with warm water and dish soap before use to avoid dirtying or damaging the film.
I followed the instructions and all went well. There will be some wetness or something between the film and glass immediately after application, that'll dry or go away within a day and you'll have an even look.
