It's a chain saw guys...
I read all of the reviews here and almost didn't purchase this saw. But knowing that people with little knowledge purchase things and then rant about the product I decided to give it a shot since I had the batteries already and I had a specific need. In the first place all tools have their idiosyncrasies and you have to come to terms with them in order to use them effectively. And chainsaws lead the field in this regard. I don't care what brand or type you have they all have similar things to consider if you are going to use. In the first place they are dirty and oily. Nature of the beast. Secondly they have a chain that can dull easily if used improperly. And also if the chain is not oiled properly you will ruin the chain and the chain bar. In the case of a battery saw you will use up the battery real fast if you do not oil the chain regularly. For the dirt and debris that WILL accumulate I have an air compressor handy and blow the entire chain mechanism out regularly with out disassembly. This helps the battery and also helps keep the chain sharp since it reduces dirt. After each extended use I disassemble and clean everything. This saw does not have an automatic oiler so that means you have to pump the oil on a regular basis. One of the features this saw has is that when you pump the bar oil a few times oil actually will come out of a small hole at the bar tip when you have pumped enough. A great indicator that helps. I have found that pumping the bar oil after cutting for about 30 seconds of use is satisfactory. This saw is not made to do the work of a larger gas Husky so don't expect it to. It is for me a great little saw when you have to go up a ladder and do some pruning. I found the battery use exceptional when used like this. Any chain saw you might have needs more time and loving care than almost any other tool you might use. So if you are the type that abhors maintenance of your tools stay away from chain saws.
