The basics: There's enough room in the Medium for my 8 lb Pomeranian to move around, keep a toy with him, and sleep in different positions. He loves his pod and definitely feels like it is his safe house. It is seriously durable, with solid sides, thick netting on top, industrial-feeling zipper and legit safety straps for the seat belt. Of course... if you're shopping for a safety seat for your precious furry friend, you're probably like me just want someone to tell you definitively, THIS IS THE ONE TO BUY. Well.. it is. My story: I bought this pod 2 years ago, to the chagrin of my bf and a few friends. And how could I blame them - every dog I see has their head sticking out the window with their face happily blowing in the wind, so why wouldn't I let my doggy enjoy the same perks?! Well, I drive 1 hour each way to work, and my BFF doggy comes with me. I heard somewhere that there was an institute doing dog dummy crash tests, so I did some research, and was horrified by the lack of safety regulations. And after seeing the vids of the crash tests, it was like.. duh... why do we let our dogs just roam free int he car when everyone else is strapped in?? So I bought the Medium size pod, and my doggy has happily used it ever since - it keeps him out of my lap, he's comfortable, and I'm not distracted while I'm driving. The real payoff (and the reason I'm writing this review now, after 2 years): I was rear ended last week, on the freeway, by a truck going 40 MPH that hit a BMW, which slammed into my tiny hybrid car that was stopped at 0 MPH. My car is totaled, I suffered whiplash injury, but my Pomeranian? He's perfectly fine - unscathed and not the least bit perturbed. I'm not even sure that he moved inside the bag during the impact, but I do know that if he wasn't in that pod, he would have gone flying into the dashboard... Now, every single person in my life who thought I was being over protective spending this much on a pod 2 years ago has said "THANK GOD YOU HAD HIM IN THAT SAFETY SEAT". So please... if you're serious about keeping your pet safe.. Invest in their safety and get this pod... not a soft sided bag... not an open topped platform/bed... put them in here, strap BOTH sides of the seatbelt in, and enjoy the peace of mind knowing that they'll be as safe as they can be.
