Great machine
This machine did a great job. The only assembly was putting the handle in. Read the manual as it has tips on usage. Pay attention to how the parts fit. There are tabs that fit in slots on the dirty water lid and the brush head cover. There were complaints that it leaked dirty water but that is because they didn't seat the container properly. It will click into place. No parts needed to be forced on as everything fit nicely. I had no leakage other than what dripped off the brushes. 1. Use warm water in the clean water tank. 2. Use the concentrated detergent in the detergent bottle. No diluting necessary which is time saving. I managed to clean 3 12’x12’, 1 20’x10’, 1 20’x15’, and 1 10’x10’, and a hallway with the sample bottle and 5 oz. of detergent from the gallon I bought. 3. When you are cleaning/rinsing, the machine dispenses soap/water when you push forward. Go slowly but not so slow that you oversaturate the area. It has indicators at the brush head that say “wash” when you go forward. If the area is not a heavy traffic area or soiled then 1-2 “wash” pass(es) was good enough. 4. When you are extracting, the indicator will say “dry”. This happens when you pull back over the area. I found that pulling back slower than when you dispensed cleaner/water worked great to get good extraction. 5. To rinse, remove the detergent container. This is why I didn’t run out of detergent. Now you only dispense warm water to rinse the carpet. Same operation of slower on the pull to extract than the push to dispense. Do this until the water you see coming in at the brush head looks less soapy. Again, don’t oversaturate the carpet. Probably only need a couple passes. 6. Once rinsed, press the “dry only” button near the handle. Love this feature. I spent more time with this than washing/rinsing. Again, slower on the pull. Work the section until you don’t see water coming in at the brush head. My carpets were dry after about 1 hour if you spend time getting it out. I also put a box fan to circulate air to the room when I was done with it. When you are ready to go to the next section, press the “dry only” button again to disengage it and re-insert the detergent bottle. It will reset when you turn the machine off too, but I usually kept it on and kept moving unless I needed to empty the dirty water or refill the clean. 7. When you empty the dirty container, rinse the whole thing out including the non-removable red screen and lid. Make sure you put the two tabs at the back of the lid into the slots first then close the lid and latch it (see pics). When you put the container back onto the machine, put the bottom in at an angle in the front then push into position (see pic). You did it right when you hear a click. Doesn’t need forcing at all. I had no leaks if it was seated properly and clicked. Also, periodically rinse out the brush head cover. It comes off easily and gets full of hair and lint. The suction will work better if you keep it clean. When you put it back on, align the two tabs near the latch with the slots. (see pics) Drop it in first then push to click. No need to force. 8. My unit came with the hose and an attachment for stairs. The attachment has two brushes included. I used the rubber one to help pull up dog hair. The hose reached 7 treads. The head has a trigger to spray soap/water. Same operation-spray detergent onto carpet (I was able to do 3 treads at a time with my reach). Drawback is trudging back down the stairs to remove the detergent container to rinse. Spray water while suctioning a few times then just suction. It did a very good job. Had to move the machine to the landing to finish but not a big deal. If a problem for you or you have more treads than it can reach, then a handheld small cleaner may be better. 9. Clean up was very easy. Rinsing out the containers, removing the brush head cover and brushes was a snap. Let it all dry before storing and it will be ready. 10. Lastly, a back-saver tip. Keep the area's you're cleaning to about 3 feet of reach in front and as wide as you want by moving left or right. Don’t overextend forward. Pull while standing up straight not bending your back. This is a slow process. It’s nice that I now have a machine and can keep up with it more regularly than the “once a year “ rental.
