PLEASE use a breakaway collar on your dog. Especially if you have another dog or take your dog to play with other dogs. My female 80# lab was playing at the foot of our bed with my other 90# male lab when her collar caught in his mouth and he started writhing around trying to get loose almost choking my female dog to death in the process. It was close to impossible to get the collar off of her while the two huge dogs were flipping out. My husband had to cut the collar off her...thankfully he had a pocket knife handy. If we hadn't been home my female dog would have choked to death and my male dog may have broken his jaw in the process. I ordered this style collar for all my dogs and advocate that every dog wear one. I had never heard of the term collar strangulation until this happened to my dogs. My female dog has permanent tracheal ring damage from the incident. Google the term collar strangulation. I think you'll be shocked at how many dogs die from this every day. PLEASE buy this breakaway collar for your dog and tell other people about it!
