There is now a resident spider on the trap that is taking advantage of the mass amount of flies...
This fly trap is amazing. Normally, I have flies who buzz around my back door, waiting for a chance to break in. Not now. They are 100 feet away transfixed on the Victor Fly Trap stink. (For the record, it does smell slightly rotten, but I don't find it too repulsive or strong.) The hook on top of the container is metal; I just hung it off a wire fence. I am attaching a photo after about a week. I'm tempted to buy more as the trap has been so productive.
Edited to add: The stink definitely gets worse. I ended up buying three more of these and have cleaned out the first one once. I dry-heaved the entire time. I don't consider myself much of a baby for these things, but that was rather horrible smelling. I don't think this is a negative, as it is what attracts flies... just wanted to properly warn ppl who may have small yards.
Also... the top white pieces have broken off of mine on windy days. I think the sun made them brittle. I can't tell if this makes them less effective.
Finally... do not leave these where you dog might decide to pick it up, chew on it and eat the contents. Husband called in a panic thinking our dog was poisoned (they are safe for dogs and kids to ingest, apparently.) The dog was fine and even seemed very happy from her new meal; however, she stunk and did not get cuddles for a few days!
