My indoor cat can finally explore outside
I raised my cat to be an inside-only cat because we live in an area where there are lots of feral cat colonies, and I worry about him getting a disease or injured from them. He's also a little bit dumb, so I don't trust him outside. But he's so curious and has escaped outside several times in his two years.
When he was a young kitten I had a regular petsmart cat harness for him, but he didn't really like it, and he eventually outgrew it, and all was forgotten.
And then I decided to splurge on the kitty holster. The price seems exorbitant at first, but then I tried it with him, and I understood the near $30 price tag. It's absolutely perfect.
It's important to follow ALL of the directions. Let your cat get used to the harness inside first. Let them figure out that they can actually walk around in it. And put it on them so tight that you think it's almost too tight. I've found that if I can get my pointer finger underneath it in all the holes, then he can still move but can't wiggle his way out.
My cat is pretty big. He's 14 lbs and quite long, so I ordered an M/L at first, and it was comically large on him. I returned that one and ordered a S/M and it fits him perfectly.
I also tried it out with my mother's very nervous tuxedo cat who is also an escape artist, and he liked it less, but the S/M did fit him at ~10 lbs and not as long.
