Taste and see that it is good.
Forget anything you think this movie will be about. It is a compelling story about the difference between religion and faith. Each Christian that was found, was forced to reject the physical representation of Jesus, (ie: the cross, an icon, etc) and was tortured and tormented for their choice. But the internal faith, the core belief in Jesus Christ and his redeeming work on the cross, which is the driving force behind Christianity, could not be eradicated from beating hearts. And if those hearts stopped beating here in the temporal, they were assured of endurance into the eternal by their enduring faith. I will now see this movie another time, since I can tell from my first viewing that I might have missed some subtlety in the telling of this amazing story. We get inundated from the fast pace of our current entertainment options, that when presented with a deep, thought provoking film, we think the telling of the story is slow. But there is no way to rush a classic. This film presents us with spiritual depth, intense human suffering, and the overwhelming victory of the soul.
