I was upset when I realized I accidentally ordered the cooling thermostat. I wrote to century about exchanging and they responded immediately with instructions about how to switch from cooling to heating mode. I couldn't figure it out though but was able to find another review on here with clearer instructions: to switch century thermostat from cooling to heating mode: -Unplug unit and anything plugged into unit -Hold down 'Set' button and temperature down button -plug the thermostat back into outlet (don't plug heating/cooling device back into thermostat yet) while holding these buttons -Let go of buttons -Unit will flash on F (cooling mode) or C (heating mode) Century should really include these in their instruction manual!! I have this one and a heating controller from Century, both work good. My snakes seem to like being kept at a good temperature.
