I have the previous generation of ear buds and experienced most of the issues other users did. Still, I kept them because it was the only way I'd get a good night's sleep. The magnetic attachment fell off the left bud and it could no longer charge so I went in search of another. I discovered a new generation was about to be released and I was excited. I have to say they listened. The issues of pillow squeaking, difficulty attaching buds to charger, low volume and poor fitting that I experienced were all resolved. These 2nd generation buds are a great improvement. I've never had an issue with the buds masking sound. They've always done so effectively for me. I do wish I had returned the first buds when Bose offered to take them back since they're now broken. I needed them. It's worth it for the restful sleep. The one thing I didn't like is that it only came with a charging cord but not the plug. I had to use the plug attachment from my first generation sleep buds.
