life changer
ok so i've owned this product for a month. I have a 40lb pitbull and a 60lb pit/wof. I trained them for like 2 days. didn't go all that great. I'm hard of hearing so i really didn't know when it started beeping so it was hard for me to tell when they were getting warned. I didn't put the collars on tight enough to make good contact either. Anyways i stopped training after two day. I tightened the collars and pretty much let them go. My dogs learned really fast not to pass the border. The collars shock them good enough to make them yipe and head back into the perimeter. They don't test it whatsoever. If i walk out of the perimeter they stop right at the edge and watch me. They don't run to the neighbors house anymore when they are outside. The perimeter is a lot bigger than u might imagine. One thing to watch out for is make sure the post are tightened good when u get it. Amazon overnighted me a new collar because one of the post came off in the yard. No chance in finding it. They were great! This thing has changed my dogs lives for the better. I can leave them outside without worrying about them running into the road or harassing the neighbors (who love them but they seem to not listen to me when the neighbors are outside) Very happy i made this investment. I take them off the dogs once they get inside. It sounds a little inhumane to shock them but its better than scraping them off the road or getting a complaint from the neighbor. Edit: I've had this product for some time now. A couple of suggestions especially if you have hyper dogs that play with each other a lot. replace the collar (not the shock part) with one that has metal buckles and stay clear of plastic. I've replaced mine twice before i learned my lesson and my dogs almost destroyed the shocking mechanisms. The plastic clasp on the original collar is THIN. One my dog bit off the female dog while playing. The other i'm not so sure if it just broke due to how thin it was or due to the fact it was freezing outside or the other dog or a combination of all of them. My batteries in both collars now are held in by duct tape because they chewed them up when they came off and the batteries fall out. I contacted petsmart to see if they had a repair place because the only thing actually wrong with it were the plastics and they still worked but they do not. They did offer me a 30% discount (which is still well over $80 dollars). I know it wasn't a fault of the companies but mine. My male wolf/pit is about 90 lbs now and still doesn't test it. He knows however what it is for and when its not on him. You have to have this collar on pretty tight for a good skin/contact connection. Fit it while they are standing up. I bought these collars at walmart and modified them.
