I love the fire tablets. I preordered the Fire HD 8 -7th Generation tablet so I've had it since June 7th. I had the Fire hd 8 - 6th generation tablet (black) and I loved it. I've attached photos comparing my new Fire hd 8 - 7th generation (yellow) The first thing I noticed was the shape. The previous generation tablet had edges that were more rounded and the new 7th gen tablet definitely has a more pointed edges making it look more rectangular. I actually really like this feature. The next thing I noticed was the weight. It weights slightly more but it's noticeable. I used my kitchen scale to compare their weight. The 6th gen tablet weighed in at 12.0oz exactly. The new 7th gen tablet weighed in at 12.9oz. A slight difference but you can definitely tell. On the side of the new 7th gen tablet they added a microSD slot so you can expand your storage up to 256GB which is quite a bit of storage. The new 7th gen tablet is actually slightly thinner, and the headphone jack and microphone hole were moved around a bit so sadly this tablet won't work in your previous 6th gen hd 8 case if you had one. I noticed something about the display I don't think was mentioned in the description, the screen on the new 7th gen tablet is a bit different. It has more of a yellow tint than the previous 6th gen. I set the same screensaver on both tablets to show the comparison. The camera on the new 7th gen tablet is a bit better than the old one. It looks better overall when taking pictures but it's not a huge improvement- the cameras have never been that great- unless you're in a very well lit area or outside in the sun. Overall I love my new tablet and even though there are only a few new improvements. They're pretty great and I love the new expandable storage! So if you can do without these small new features then by all means- don't upgrade, but if you always find yourself running out of space, or you just want the next best thing.. then get the new Fire HD 8 - 7th generation tablet!
